The night train

Amapola was born from a flower on a spring day, in a meadow where the breeze was gentle, the sun always shone, and nothing bad ever happened. Small like a peach, Amapola had big dreams. She was determined to reach the top of the mountain she could see from her home. But the journey to the top wouldn’t be easy for someone so small.
This personal project follows Amapola’s adventure as she pursues her dreams. Along the way, she’ll encounter both kind and challenging characters along the way.

Reimagining Wonderland
I’m sorry, but how can one possibly pay attention to a book with no pictures in it?

Valentina was fearless, nothing ever scared her. Her little brother, Thomas, on the other hand, was easily frightened by almost anything. Valentina loved teasing him with stories of vampires, crocodiles, and ghosts. One afternoon, after Thomas stole her cake, she decided it was time for some revenge. That night, she would tell him her scariest story yet.

I had a lot of fun exploring horror themes in this series of illustrations. For this piece, I wanted to capture a classic Gothic scene. I was inspired by Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s mansion from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Camp cinema is one of my biggest influences, and it was so fun to bring that vibe into this illustration.
Mr. Fangstasticus’s wife, Georgina, tragically dies in a mysterious accident. Her old friends visit him at his mansion on the outskirts to offer their condolences, only to be trapped by a raging storm. They must spend the night together, but soon discover there is someone—or something—else in the house.

Through vibrant illustrations, this book offers a nuanced portrayal of Marie Antoinette, highlighting both her faults and her vulnerability. It aims to show that, while she made mistakes, she was also a product of her circumstances, inviting readers to empathize with her as a human being rather than just a historical figure. . The project seeks to help young readers understand the complexities of the past, focusing on empathy without excusing the actions of those in power.
